Make practice a manageable part of your day, with time to revisit what you learn.

Choose a realistic time

A routine is easier to follow when it fits around your responsibilities. Choose a practice time you can return to regularly rather than planning more than you can maintain. Discuss the amount of practice with your teacher.

Give review its own space

New learning can feel exciting, but revisiting familiar reading or memorisation deserves time too. Ask the teacher which parts to review and how to balance them with your next lesson.

Keep track of questions

If you feel unsure about a sound, passage or instruction, make a note. Bring the question to your next lesson instead of repeatedly practising something you do not understand.

Notice the process

Focus on the care you give to practice and the guidance you apply. If your routine becomes difficult, talk to the teacher and adjust it to something more manageable.
